If your new to the game of tennis heres some basic information.

The Grand Slams

Ofen refered to at the slams, these are the oldest and most prestiogous of the tournements, with Wimbledon being the oldest and arguably the most prestigious of the four. These tournaments attract the most press coverage and crowds, with that comes the highest prize money and points you collect to go towards a players world ranking. 

In tournaments men and women play best-of-two sets. In grand slams men play best-of-five sets and women play best of three sets.

Margaret Court has the all time ladies record in the ladies tour with 24 singles Grand Slams titles set in 1973. Although in the moden era Serena Williams in the ladies tour in 2017 and Novaka Jokaich in 2023 in the mens tour reached 23 Gland Salms each. for the mens tour this is an all time record.

Often referred to as the golden slam, where a player wins or four grand slams and an olympic gold medal. Only Steffi Graf of Germany in 1988 has done this to date.
